Abstract

Nowadays the improvement of knowledge is becoming more and more important due to the improvement of civilizations. One way to improve knowledge is by learning. Therefore, this research is primarily aimed to investigate the management and employee attitude towards learning in a consulting company. It also investigates their learning styles, and obstacles to learning. A research instrument combining open and close ended questions was used to obtain data from consultant companies chosen randomly from the Surabaya area in Fast Java. Data obtained was analyzed in two ways: company analysis, and general analysis. Results in this research show that although there are no organizations meeting the definition of learning organization, people do learn in several ways. Time available, funds, and ways of communicating are found to he the major obstacles to learning. Therefore, suggestions are made focusing on innovation, funds, rules, communication obstacles and ffectiveness, personal performance improvement, spare time usage, etc.
