    Abstract

    Discussion of architecture in Indonesia is an interesting topic. Seen in terms of geography and climate, this setting is a unique because Indonesia is an archipelago with of diverse architecture as a background. With a diverse architecture, we can learn about cultural diversity and is expressed in the motto of “Bhineka Tunggal Ika� (Unity in Diversity), is different but still one. Locality and universality values in architecture in Indonesia are a necessity to be able to sustain the diverse architecture earlier (Pangarsa, 2006). Regionalism is one way to achieve sustainability of local architecture with current conditions. Why is that?, because regionalism architecture is a method how to observe the locality and universality values in realizing works of architecture today. This paper attempts to understand the locality and universality values in regionalism architecture in Indonesia, which has to uniqueness going to Bhineka Tunggal Ika. Use the descriptive method and rhetorical technique, to explain the locality and universality values within regionalism architecture to preserved continuity. It expected to be a discourse that will reinforce the importance of conservation and sustainable architecture in Indonesia. The end of this study indicate that by maintaining the locality and universality values, will created more sustainable architecture in Indonesia.
