Abstract

Nowadays, hotel industry in Indonesia had finally found some light after going to a slump subsequent to Bali Bombing at 2002. During these recent years, Indonesian tourism is showing a sign of recovering, along with the steady growth of hotels all around Indonesia, up to the point that hotel business has once again become lucrative field to work on. However, the growth of tourism itself is not enough to measure the success of a hotel business, as it is the service provided by the hotel that matters the most in hospitality industry. Therefore, inline with that statement, the writer will try to research the factors affecting busy people?s preferences toward hotel, so to supply the necessary knowledge for hotel to accommodate the customer accordingly. In order to reach that objective, the writer will discuss all the fact and theories about hotel industry, as well as analyzing the survey results with factor analysis to come up with factors that can strongly explain the customer preference toward a hotel. By the end of the research, the writer finally came up with four final factors that affect customer general preference on hotel, which consists of Competence and Location, Assurance, Flexibility, and Tidiness.
