Abstract

In The Chronicles of Narnia:the Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe four Pevensi Siblings (Peter,Susan,Edmund and Lucy)start their journey in a wonderful land of Narnia when Lucy the youngest sibling opens the way to Narnia through an old magical wardrobe. They already hear about Jadis the Evil White Witch who makes Narnia get into eternal winter land. That is why they come to help Aslan to end the Witch's curse. Through this thesis, I want to reveal their ways in helping Aslan save Narnia. To analyze the Pevensi siblings' ways, I use literary approach and the tools applied are characterization and conflict. In analyzing the novel, I find that each Pevensi siblings has their own ways in helping Aslan. Firstly, because of his responsible character, Peter helps Aslan as the battle leader in the battle against Jadis. Secondly, driven by her gentle character, Susan helps Aslan by calming him down when Aslan feels sad and lonely before he sacrifices himself in the Stone Table. Thirdly, Edmund Pevensi helps Aslan defeat Jadis by breaking her wand to end the curse. Lastly, Lucy helps Aslan by accompanying him release all Narnians from Jadis' curse. The four Pevensies have their own ways to help Aslan, but they have the same purpose to fulfill the ancient prophecy. In the end, the Pevensi siblings sit at the throne in Cair Paravel, become Kings and Queens of Narnia. By sitting at the Cair Paravel throne, the Pevensi siblings make the winter vanish and restore peace to Narnia.
