Abstract

In George Orwell?s Animal Farm, there is a significant characters? change of Napoleon, the main character from good proletariat into bad capitalist. The problems that I want to analyze are how Napoleon could possibly change from good into bad. In analyzing the issue of power struggle, I use characterization theory from literary approach as my main theory and the theory of conflict from literary approach as my supporting theory in order to analyze the topic. Therefore my main analysis would be about Napoleon starts as a good proletariat, but finally he changes into a bad capitalist. There are several causes that affect his change; the condition of the farm, the stupidity of the other animals in the Animal Farm, Napoleon?s ambitious characteristic, Snowball?s competence, Napoleon?s follower that can make him superior compare to the other animals in the Animal Farm, and at last but not least it is because... POWER tends to corrupt....
