Abstract

This thesis is an analysis of the personality of the Bundren family in William Faulkner's novel As I Lay Dying through the stream of conciousness method of narration. The use of the stream oc consciousness in the novel is revealed through the important incidents around the funeral procession. How the characters behave shows their personality. It is the personality of the major and the minor characters of the Bundrens. Basically, the stream of consciousness in those characters is presented by using an interior monologue technique. The stream of consciousness is effective to reveal the character's life as the character's action occurs and develops through what is going on in the character's mind.
