Abstract

Emily Bronte published only one novel, Wuthering Heights (1847), a story of love, hate and revenge. She was born in Thornton, Yorkshire, on July 30, 1818. The background of the study is the problems and results of Catherine?s love for Heathcliff. The thesis writer?s statements of the problems are the problems and the results of Catherine?s love for Heathcliff. The importance of this analysis is for the reader to understand that love should not be betrayed. The scope of discussion of this novel is on the study of Catherine?s love for Heathcliff, and about what happens to Catherine that makes her have so many problems with her love. The thesis writer will also explain about Catherine, Edgar, Heathcliff and Hindley?s characteristics in order to support this analysis. Furthermore, the thesis writer uses library research to get data for the analysis. Moreover, the thesis writer uses literary approach, in example the theories of characterization and conflict. Finally, the analysis ends with the conclusion that to be with Heathcliff she creates lots of conflicts with her surroundings.
