Abstract

Frank Bollinger in The Face of Fear by Dean R. Koontz, is a character who has paranoid schizophrenia. He often has delusions of being superior than others and visual hallucinations of seeing something that is unreal. Frank has a wrong perception about society and he trusts in his own faith. The environment has become the important factor that caused his disease. That is why, the writer is curious to know what are the symptoms and why he has a paranoid schizophrenia. To analyse Frank Bollinger?s paranoid schizophrenia, the writer uses psychological approach and schizophrenia theory, then she applies the theory with the symptoms and cause of Frank?s paranoid schizophrenia. The writer will analyze the symptoms and cause of Frank?s paranoid schizophrenia. Then, the write gives conclusion that Franks? influence from Prine has made him suffer from paranoid schizophrenia.
