Abstract
Students’ car use on the way to the university has increased in the last few years. This occurrence resulted in increasing congestion and parking demand. This study aims to figure out travel cost difference between car and vanpool, obstacles to the use of vanpool, amenities and fare that are desirable for user, to analyze benefit cost ratio of vanpool operator, and to estimate the budget requirements for managing and subsidize vanpool service. Result indicated that, vanpools’ travel cost is lower than car for travel distance above nine kilometers per day, most of the obstacles to the use of vanpool could be addressed by providing vanpool service center furthermore, granting a subsidy for vanpool users and financing the vanpool service, not only reduce parking demand, but also will give a surplus budget for long-term, that can be used to fund various campus transport management strategy.
