Abstract
A useful picture of local traffic movements can be built up by defining one or more cordons and screenlines in a local area, noting the license plates of vehicles passing these cordon or screenlines. These data samples help define the total transportation behavior and travel patterns within the study area. But a large amount of work is necessary to match the license plate numbers on the field sheets of each O-D station against nearby O-D stations to trace the route origin and destination of each vehicle. This paper describes an alternative methodology to process license plate data matching using Microsoft Excel spreadsheets to produce a matrix of flow. This simple procedure using several functions in Microsoft Excel can also modify to comply others purpose such as to produce a trip chain.
