The struggle for gender equity, among other things, is to get the right to make important derision. This kind of struggle is also done by female Indonesian writers. One of them is Lily Yulianti Farid. Her short story titled Makkunrai tells about a young woman who bravely communicates her ideas which are in contradiction of her rich grandfathers who believes in Patriarchal system. She decides to be her grandfathers opposition by making decisions which are uncommonly done by women. She does not only struggle for the sake of herself but also of other women. One question arises, that is: Does Makkunrai make good decisions? After further analysis, it can be said that Makkunrais decisions are really the good ones because they cause gender awareness and action to support her struggle for gender equity. As a conclusion, in order to have a meaningful life, a woman should be brave to make a decision to oppose the oppression either by words or by action.
