This thesis: "The Study of Love as seen through Marguerite Gautier in Alexandre Dumas fils' Camille" is an analysis of the characters and conflicts of Marguerite Gautier which reveal the characteristics of pure love or agape love. Gathering data to support the analysis, the thesis writer uses library research. Then, using the literary approach, the thesis writer analyses the character traits of the heroine and also the conflicts that she has to show the love of the heroine. From this analysis, the thesis writer finds out how Marguerite's patience, self-sacrifice, and also struggle in facing obstacles and also her decisions during her lifetime. Although she is a courtesan in this particular play, she can really has pure love toward her lover. Gathering data to support the heroine's existence, the thesis writer uses library research. Finally, the thesis writer can concludes that love can be considered pure after it survives through many tests and obstacles.
