People always associate swear word with a bad or taboo word, which should not be used in the talks. However, there are some group consider that swear word can be used to express feeling and reduce tension when somebody is angry. The writer uses comedian movie entitled "The Nutty Professor" as the source of data in her research. The writer is interested to find out the purpose of the characters in the movie, when they are using swear words. The writer uses theories of swear words classification and theory principal purposes in using swear words. The writer used descriptive quantitative approach in doing the research. From the analysis, the writer finds out that the anatomical term is the most frequent swear word classification that is used by the characters in the movie. Second, the writer finds out that the most frequent of principal purposes that is used by the character is to insult. As conclusion, swear word is not always used s bad word, but it can be used as identification or others. There are many purposes for somebody in using swears word and it depends on the situation, when the dialog happens.
