Idenfitication of Social Approach of Public Housing Design

Public housing in big city is often seen as only a commodity. Residental units, complementary function, utilities are regardes as low
economic goods that is easily accessible by lower middle class society. There are no more value that offered in almost every housing
provided by the government. Meanwhile, the social and togetherness value in their life are very distinctive character. As a housing designer,
architects should use that values creatively. So even though it is a commodity building, there is at least a newness in it. The Jatinegara
Flat is one that quite successfully answer of it. This study seeks to identify the potential of social life utilized in its design.
