This thesis is about the study of Archibald Mac Leish's J.B. which reveals a modern man's religious dilem- ma. As an adaptation of a Biblical story, this poetic drama presents a modern Job who wins his life by struggling against the world's harsh life. He must deal with the inexplicable sufferings that come to his life and these conflicts lead him into a religious dilemma. He is in dilemma since he is confused about the image of God. Besides, his conflicts with his wife, his three friends also bring him to face the religious dilemma. The writer is curious to know how he struggles to deal with his dilemma. She analyzes the hero's struggle through the way he deals with his conflicts. The writer finds that J.B. finally succeeds in dealing with his conflicts and the religious dilemma through the decisions he takes. He decides to keep obeying God and even learns to put God in the right position as the Ultimate Being. Further, he decides to continue living in spite of what he haa experienced. The writer concludes that the hero has courage to take up his life again because he lets love and hope prevail.
