Abstract
Urban Farming is a farming technique in an urban environment by utilizing an area, such as a yard, garden, or even the roof of a building. To optimize the benefits of urban farming, good and controlled governance is needed, starting from the initial process of preparation, planting, maintenance to harvest and post-harvest. In Surabaya, hydroponic urban farming was found owned by KRPL Tambakrejo Surabaya, which was not functioning properly. Through community service activities using theABCD (Asset Based Community Development) method, efforts were made for empowerment and improvement by transforming their conventional hydroponic garden into a smart hydroponic system. This method was implemented starting from identifying the problems faced by KRPL Tambakrejo, such as difficulties in clean water supply, rat infestation, limited electricity sources, and suboptimal product marketing methods. The transformation process was carried out through revitalizing the conventional hydroponic system into an IoT-based and solar-powered smart hydroponic system. From the analysis results after the transformation, KRPL Tambakrejos hydroponic garden could generate a minimum profit of Rp 4,032,000 per year. Besides being very energy-efficient and directly monitorable via the internet, the hydroponic garden is now also free from rat infestations.
